The Five Elements Philosophy

The Japanese culinary philosophy at Yakiniku King is a harmonious blend of Gomi Goshiki (Five Flavors, Five Colors) and the Gohan principle (Five Methods), bringing perfect balance to both health and taste:

  • Wood (Green): Symbolizes the freshness of nature through crisp lettuce wraps, edamame and fresh mushrooms, helping to cleanse the body and support digestion (Liver).
  • Fire (Red): Represents the explosive heat of glowing Binchotan charcoal searing every line of marbling on premium US/Australian beef slices, stimulating sight and the heart to the fullest (Heart).
  • Earth (Yellow): Present in the warm yellow of egg-butter dipping sauce, grilled sweet corn and sweet potato, bringing a sense of comfort and supporting the digestive system (Spleen).
  • Metal (White): Purity that comes from bowls of soft, fragrant white rice of true Japanese variety, elegant white porcelain plates and crisp, sweet enoki mushrooms, helping to clear heat from the body (Lungs).
  • Water (Black/Dark): Depth of flavor that lingers in traditionally brewed Shoyu soy sauce, our exclusive Tare sauce, the cast-iron grill and rich Nori seaweed, helping to sustain lasting energy (Kidneys).
